Sector -62 Gurgaon

Ritinjali, in collaboration with Pioneer Urban & Land Infrastructure Ltd. opened a new Learning Centre in 2014 at Pioneer’s construction site in Sector -62 Gurgaon to cater to the migrant labour population living adjacent to the buildings. The children are enrolled in 3 classes that cater to different learning requirements of children at different ages. The first class enrolls students between the ages of 4-6 while the second and third classes enrolls children between 7-10 and 10+ respectively.

Even though more than 60% of the labour is migrant and relocates with 2-3 months, the centre gives children a first chance to start learning and develop an interest in studies. The programmes have been designed to create an interest in learning and provide basic skills in numeracy and literacy, along with general awareness, health and hygiene, and other life skills. Three teachers takecare of the classes under the supervision of teachers from Pallavan School and Ritinjali.

The programme is aimed at increasing awareness and developing values and a love for learning in the children. At the end of 2 months, the children who stay on are evaluated and moved to the next level. In cases, where children stay for a longer period and have reached a level of competency, we look at enrolling them with Open Basic Education at the levels of classes 3, 5 or 8. Currently, there are approximately 75 children who attend classes regularly at the centre.
