For the last two months, Ritinjali volunteers have been working in Uttarakhand providing relief to people affected by floods.

The weather in the entire northern belt seems to have had a resurgence of the monsoon. Not only is it raining in Delhi and the NCR, the Uttarakhand region has had heavy rains in the recent past, as a result, our team at Makku Math is out of communication.

We were able to finish distribution of all sacks in the first lot on Day 10, 2nd August. We now await the arrival of the truck with 2nd lot of relief supplies. A list of the remaining families has been created for distribution of the same.

Relief Material Distribution

The team started day 4, 27th July, at 7am from the hotel at Tilwara and heading for Rudraprayag. The target was to reach Makku Math by afternoon. Unfortunately within 2km of the hotel, there had been a breach on the road which meant that they ended up stuck there till 1415 hrs.

Some volunteers from AMEX visited our Nathupur Pahari Center today. Their visit gave the volunteers an excellent opportunity to interact with the children in groups and also to teach them maths and talk about nature.

We started from Gurgaon at 1015 hrs on 23 July in the Scorpio lent by Mercury Himalayan Explorations (MHE). We were able to reach their Aaranya facilty at Shivpuri by 1815 hrs the same evening.

Meet the team that left yesterday morning, IST 9 am. Their first halt was at Shivpuri. Currently, they have reached the Rudraprayag belt and are looking for man-made/natural landing to build the relief camp.

Our team comprising of Nithin Devarajan, Srikkanth S, Mahesh Mandal, and Sanjay Mandal left today IST 9 am in a Scorpio, provided by Mercury Himalayan Explorations. They would be reaching Shivpuri, where MHE would be providing them with all the necessary camping gear.
