About Ritinjali

Founded in 1995, Ritinjali is a Delhi-based non-profit organisation working at the intersection of education, livelihoods, community development, and peacebuilding. Our work is shaped by a strong respect for life, work, and dignity, and by the conviction that meaningful change emerges when people are equipped with skills, confidence, and supportive environments.

The name Ritinjali, drawn from Sanskrit and meaning ‘helping hands,’ reflects the values at the heart of our work. Through integrated education and skilling programmes, we support disadvantaged children and youth to actualise their potential, access dignified livelihood opportunities, strengthen community wellbeing, and participate more fully as responsible citizens.

Founded by Mr Arun Kapur, an eminent educator with over four decades of experience, Ritinjali’s programmes are informed by his leadership in second-chance education frameworks that reconnect learners to education, livelihoods, and wider opportunities. Our work continues to evolve with changing realities while remaining grounded in inclusion, collective action, and human potential.

Our Approach

Actualising Potential
Through Wholistic Development

At Ritinjali, we believe sustainable transformation requires more than education or employment alone. Many of the individuals we work with experience interrupted learning, limited exposure, and low confidence, underscoring the need to address multiple aspects of their development.

Our approach focuses on wholistic development, integrating education, skills, wellbeing, and identity-building through five interconnected areas: cerebral, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual. Strengthened by our partnership with our sister organisation, Pallavanjali Learning Systems, this enables learners to build confidence, resilience, and sustain progress beyond our programmes.

Five Areas of Development

Physical Development

Supporting health, nutrition, and overall wellbeing to enable consistent learning and participation.

Social Development

Developing communication, relationships, and a sense of responsibility within communities.

Stories of Transformation

Image

Harish Singh, from Almora, Uttarakhand, joined the Second Chance School Residential Programme after completing Class 12, but feeling uncertain about his next steps. With limited exposure to career pathways, he struggled to make informed choices.

At Ritinjali, he engaged in structured learning, mentorship, and work-readiness training that strengthened his communication, time management, and digital skills. As his confidence grew, he began exploring opportunities in the technology field. With support, Harish pursued a Diploma in Cloud Computing and gained practical experience through an internship. Today, he works in an IT role in Gurugram, earning a stable income and building a more secure and independent future.

Harish’s Story of Direction and Growth

Rajan, from Basti district in Uttar Pradesh, enrolled in the Second Chance School Residential Programme after completing Class 12, seeking a clearer path forward. With limited access to guidance and opportunities, securing stable work felt out of reach.

Through the programme, he developed discipline, confidence, and teamwork within a structured residential environment. His interest in healthcare was identified early, and he was supported in enrolling in a Medical Laboratory Technician course.

Rajan’s Story of Stability and Progress

Now working at a clinic in New Delhi, Rajan earns a steady income and continues to build his skills. His journey reflects how the right support system can lead to consistent, meaningful progress.

Bhawna, based in Delhi, had completed Class 12 but struggled with low confidence and uncertainty about her future. Despite having multiple interests, she found it difficult to identify a clear direction.

Bhawna’s Story of Confidence
and Purpose

With guidance from the programme, she enrolled in a professional culinary course. Today, Bhawna works as a Commis Chef, having turned her interest into a stable and fulfilling career.

After joining the Second Chance Day School, she participated in training sessions, mentoring, and exposure visits that helped her better understand her strengths. Over time, she developed a strong interest in cooking and began pursuing it more seriously.
